How We Measure Our Jeans
When looking for the perfect pair of jeans or pants, it’s important to know how to measure them, especially when buying online. Grab your best-fitting pair and use the guide below to take accurate measurements. You’ll know exactly what to look for.
Waist
- Button up the jeans.
- Lay them flat with the top front edge even with the top back edge. Pull tight.
- Measure straight across the waistband from one edge to the other.
- Double this number for the full waist measurement.
Front Rise
- Button up the jeans and lay them flat.
- Pull the fabric tight at the rise.
- Measure from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband.
Back Rise
- Button up the jeans and lay them flat.
- Pull the fabric tight at the back rise.
- Measure from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband.
Thigh
- Lay the jeans flat.
- Place the tape at the far edge of the crotch seam.
- Measure straight across to the outside edge of the leg.
Knee
- Lay the jeans flat.
- Measure 12 inches down from the crotch along the inseam.
- From that point, measure straight across the leg from edge to edge.
Leg Opening
- Lay the jeans flat.
- Measure straight across the bottom leg opening from one edge to the other.
Inseam
- Lay the jeans flat with the inseam running down the center.
- Press flat and measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
How We Measure Our Jackets
Pit to Pit
- Button up the garment.
- Lay it flat, face up, with arms in a T shape.
- Measure from one armpit seam to the other.
Shoulder
- Button up the garment.
- Lay it flat, face down, with arms in a V shape.
- Measure from one shoulder seam to the other.
Sleeve
- Lay the garment flat.
- Measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
Length
- Lay the garment flat, face down, with arms in a V shape.
- Measure from where the collar band meets the yoke down to the longest point of the hem.
